They stored data on device diagnostics in a legacy data warehouse and managed departmental analytics individually. To create a holistic business view, their data needed to be integrated across functions.

Building an effective corporate data architecture required accurate data capture with continuous updates, integration, and maintenance. They also needed a more modern analytics platform that executed the right algorithms to produce effective visual dashboards and reports, supporting both operational and strategic needs. Solution

Kanerika created a unified business intelligence system that captured the cradle-to-grave lifecycle of a medical device across all functions – from original sale and deployment to machine monitoring and maintenance to device retirement and replacement.

The Kanerika team started by understanding the Client’s data and leveraging the legacy data warehouse solution. Using their expertise in big data and data wrangling, they collected, cleansed, and transformed the data into a live database architecture optimized for real-time business analysis and decision making.

Kanerika applied the power and elasticity of the Azure cloud to deliver the scalable performance needed to aggregate and analyze the required data volumes and provide excellent response time. After working with the Client to understand both the current and future analytics needs, Kanerika organized data—both analytically and visually—to support individual functions (e.g., maintenance KPIs and product sales analysis) as well as executive decision making.

Kanerika also created new Power Business Intelligence dashboards for standardized and ad hoc management queries, while also integrating the new system with low-cost, open-source tools to generate standardized reports where these tools sufficed to meet functional needs.
